Dark Chocolate Frozen Yogurt

Dark Chocolate Frozen Yogurt

posted in: Holiday recipes | 0

With Valentine’s day coming up, I thought I would share this impromptu frozen deliciousness I whipped up last night. In a fit of madness, seeking chocolate in the house only to find dark cocoa was the only chocolate lurking in my cupboards, I succumbed to the idea of making something.  All my hidden chocolate somehow disappeared. I even checked the book shelf books and “decorative” hiding spots twice! There were no chocolate chips to be found…..seems we have a mole……

Anyhoo…this is pretty darn good for winging it on a whim. And super easy to boot. Disclaimer – it is rich, it is sweet, it is faux healthy as I say – meaning – the yogurt may deceive the health nut in you, but there is definite sweetness level here!

And as my daughter asked – “Why do you think sharing ice cream on your blog relates to your business?” Umm hello dear child of mine failing to expand past the box this morning……ICE CREAM AND WAFFLES…!!! Enter eye roll from second child who is gleefully devouring the new concoction and offering a “Yeah….”

So yes – waffles – of course! Specifically to pair with any of our Valentine flavours like the Chocolate Raspberry, Strawberry Cream, Cranberry White Chocolate, Plum Spice, Cherry Amaretto and to sweeten up the burly Lumber FlapJack flavour! However, so far I keep “testing” this straight up on its own, just making sure it is good to go for waffles on Sunday morning!

Ingredients
Servings: bowls
Instructions
  1. Dump the full container of yogurt into a large bowl.
  2. Fold in the condensed milk.
  3. Add the cocoa and use a whisk to power whip it into the milk / yogurt mixture.
  4. Add vanilla and mix.
  5. Pour mixture into a pan or container. Reserve enough liquid to "test" the recipe. Place in freezer overnight or until frozen. Scoop with a warm scoop or allow to soften a bit before scooping! Enjoy!
  6. Feel free to add what you want as far as nuts, marshmallows, sprinkles etc! We opted to add marshmallows as that is all we had on had. I would personally make this again with marshmallow cream, pecans and chocolate sauce for a decadent heavenly hash treat! We will be sure to post our marshmallow and chocolate syrup recipe one day too! Oh - and homemade condensed milk recipe because it is way better than store bought!
